Discussion of ordination, the Vinaya and monastic life. How and where to ordain? Bhikkhuni ordination etc.

Post by confusedlayman »

is it possible to ordain without using lay name that's there as well as without getting new Pali name? I mean can a monk lose his name after ordination? so u cant call him by any name?

still stuck on nagarjuna, it seems  a name is merely a convention. it is merely words. it is not dukkha.
There is always an official executioner. If you try to take his place, It is like trying to be a master carpenter and cutting wood. If you try to cut wood like a master carpenter, you will only hurt your hand.

Often times, at least in SE Asia, you won't get called by your pāḷi/upasampada name, but it depends on the community, some places you can choose your name which is undoubtedly better. Good luck with your ordination upāsaka, hope you find a good place that works for you.
