Are monks allowed to keep pets?

My sister said the monk in her temple keep chicken in a coop!

I found the following past topic.
But the all about animals happen to be abandoned or the animal wonder about the temple.
Not about a animal husbandry keeping pets as an active action.

In commentary to Vinaya by Thanissaro Bhikkhu, it is said that a bhikkhu can not call some others pet and play with him, or feed it etc. Because the act of "deplacing some other's pet" can be considered as theft...

Maybe not relevant to the OP question, but something about bhikkhu-pet relationship that popped up...
