Should monastic practice Dana (giving)?
I wonder why Dana is not mentioned in Sallekha Sutta.

Re: Should monastic practice Dana (giving)?
Monks are encouraged by the Buddhato make merits ("don't fear merits, merits is what establishes beings in the next world"), yet of course not downwardly, and in regard of Dana (one of the ten kinds of merits) within the community of monks, good householder. Those within Sila are even a duty and in regard of reflecting the Dhamma, bending right view straight, as well.
Doing Dana (material) outside is limited toward parents, in regard of lay people. In regard of sharing merits, rejoicing on them, there are also no limits but like Anumodana giving, even duties for monks.
Maybe good householder does also good to be more clear about merits, puñña, to start to do much around it.
