This is an age-old problem.

"Just now, lord, after the meal, on returning from our alms round, we gathered at the meeting hall and got engaged in many kinds of bestial topics of conversation: conversation about kings, robbers, & ministers of state; armies, alarms, & battles; food & drink; clothing, furniture, garlands, & scents; relatives; vehicles; villages, towns, cities, the countryside; women & heroes; the gossip of the street & the well; tales of the dead; tales of diversity, the creation of the world & of the sea; talk of whether things exist or not."

I fully agree. I often find myself spending hours on Facebook basically procrastinating, but if I deleted Facebook I would certainly find other stuff to do to avoid getting down to the important tasks awaiting me. And the main complaint people seem to have about Facebook is just this: it wastes a lot of time.

Without the proper understanding of why one is deleting one's social media accounts, the deletion won't make much difference to one's life.

I have deleted Facebook accounts, and now I spend a week without YouTube in order to see how my mind will manage that..

The only social medias left is Watsapp (for job and Dhamma), and Telegram (Dhamma friends)

We don't live Samsara, Samsara is living us...

Is social media harmful to us?

When I refer to social media I mean facebook, instragram, twitter, etc. :anjali:
I dunt have fac-ebook coz so old.
And something to "follow".
I dunt like follaw follow.
Youtube only for comments.
But, now I'm (little) bored
with youtube.

I watch
sermons more.

Perhaps, what is destructive is when
you using internet all the time.
When I don't used internet for 7
weeks (consecutive) while fasting
a full 7 weeks in the month of Vesākha Pūjā;
it was really hard at the first time,
but after 7 weeks, I've started to
using internet less (by itself),
so much fun.

At night after meditating before going to bed,
I no longer surf the internet until morning.

I hope in the future,
I will not play internet
during uposathå.
