Was present Tipitaka survived in Sri Lanka or Burma?

Was present Tipitaka survived in Sri Lanka or Burma considering the fact that Buddhism has to be revived in Sri Lanka by Burmies monks?

The tripitaka was in existence, but the sangha has almost disappeared in sri lanka twice that I know of.

How come that Tipitaka survived but Upasamagada Sangha disappeared?

The tripitaka is a physical collection of teachings written down. The sangha is a group of people. People die, books only wither away with time...
