"Buddha Sutta Study Group" YouTube Channel

Post by Mr. Seek »

Some months ago while randomly scrolling through YouTube I came across a channel called "Buddha Sutta Study Group". It had and still has little to no subscribers and views. Decided to share this interesting wealth of knowledge that I came across with you folks, maybe some among you will find the stuff useful.

It's hard to navigate (the discussions are named by date, not topic), but basically, from my observations: these are a bunch of Indian guys, some of them very knowledgeable, who read and discuss the Pali suttas, and in general the practice contained therein. They do this in English and Pali. In some of their videos they discuss metaphysics, matters concerning the practical side of spirituality, all kinds of useful stuff. Some of their videos contain discussions on more than one sutta. They help each other read the Pali, and try to understand it together, comparing translations, looking up complicated words, etc. Some of their talks are on very early Buddhist suttas, like the ones contained in the Atthakavagga and Parayanavagga.

Since, maybe, I want to skim through all of their videos, I'll go ahead and do so, bit by bit, starting from the oldest ones (in terms of upload date), and write here, for my sake and for the sake of others, which videos contain what. Here are the first ten which I went through today. Haven't watched the entire content of them, just quickly checked what they are about.

I totally forgot about this and since have put it aside. Nonetheless, I quite appreciated the channel back when I first came across it. So, hopefully it's of some use to somebody. I think they may have a new channel or something like that, but I don't know. I'm guessing there's not just one Indian YouTube channel out there that speaks about Buddhism; there might be more--probably, yeah; some of their videos are in English, some in Hindi, etc. Kind of mixed up and you can't quite tell which is going to be in English, which in Hindi. Cheers.
