match fixing and gambling and 5 precepts

Post by confusedlayman »

if gambling is speculation then gambling on fixed match is also gambling when results are known before hand? I just curious how it affects 5 precepts? does it come under deception that leads to bad rebirth?
I may be slow learner but im at least learning...

Yes, I'd say it does. Placing a bet when the outcome is known is not really gambling, but deceit. Your bet is only accepted on the basis that you don't know the outcome, and they wouldn't accept it they knew you did.
