Is Mudita Bhavana tied to Career Succcess?

Post by Akashad »

Hello all,

I've noticed everytime I practice mudita bhavana I get a lot of career door openings ? This has puzzled me for quite some time now so I decided to research it a little bit more.

I know that mudita is the remedy for jealousy and envy.I researched what are the karmic consequences of being envious of others and found being born powerless or without influence. This has led me to conclude that the more we get rid of jealousy and envy from out mind stream the more powerful and influential we become which in this case is via career progression.

The strange part is it also works even when I am only sending mudita to myself.I use the phrase May I Not Lose Anything That I Have Gained.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

The results of kusala kamma can come in this life or future lives.

A possibility:
If your mudita practice manifests in behaviors, you may be seen to be a "team player."
In many organizations/careers, team players are valued.
If your practice manifests in calmness, you may be seen as a sane person who will be a valued team member.
Or something else entirely!
I any case,

Brahmans Vihara definitely have a positive effect on you. However you have to remember even Buddha was affected by eight worldly conditions. Mara is always Thor to test you.

Goenka Jii was saying that practicing Vipassana leads to carrier success.

Sorry.
What I meant was even Buddha has to face the Eight Worldly Conditions even though he was not moved (affected) by them.

That is indeed a very good interesting observation and it could be the case. It would be hard to say %100, but I have noticed certain opportunities opening up after engaging in virtuous practices for sure!

Virtue will only bring us good results...

I would be careful with such statements. In dhamma context the statement certainly applies but (due to the "only") it does not apply in worldly contexts which are the topic of this thread. It is not that practicing virtue necessarily causes to be liked by others and therefore having carrer success. Practicing virtue may also have contrary effects in working environments and in certain situations.

If you have read Dale Carnegie's "How to win friends and influence people" you will find Brahame Vihara is written all over.
I still have a copy of the original date back to more than sixty years!
However, if you follow the instruction in this book without Buddha's knowledge you will have some problems as you can influence by the far enemy.
