What I meant was that I will forward this discussion to Ven. Vijithananda via his website information channels.I'm not sure what you mean by this.
Is Sotapanna a fixed state?

Re: Sotapanna is not a fixed state!!
What I am saying is that Sutta is only a guideline. This statement is a little confusing. Do you mean that there may be inconsistencies or wrong information in the suttas, which should be discussed and analysed?
It is not possible to attain Nibbana by reading Sutta.
You have to verify Sutta content with your practice.
These monks seem to practice for a very long time.
So we should be openminded enough to listen to different opinions.

Buddha alone is the teacher
other teachers are speaking before understanding
that's misguided but

I suggest to Paul to open a new thread to discuss this technicality of posting on the Dhamma Wheel.cappuccino wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 2:40 am Buddha alone is the teacher

Evidence?
The teaching and training that I have taught and pointed out for you shall be your Teacher after my passing.

I see your point.
Perhaps I would have rephrased it "It is not possible to attain Nibbana by reading Sutta alone"
You have to practice what you learn.

Well, you better start learning if you want to starting practicing.

Agree.
Learning and practice go hand in hand I suppose.
This a chicken and egg question.
Children did not read a book to learn walking!
You can start a new thread to discuss this perhaps.

Wow! He throws another bombshell!!
According to him, Sotapana has realise Sakkhaya Ditthi only from the Body. (khaya Indriya)
He still has not a Sotapanna in the other five Indriyas.

Re: Sotapanna is not a fixed state!!
Greetings,
Sounds less like a "bombshell" and more like "fake news".
Take a look at Sutta accounts that depict the arising of the Dhamma eye (synonymous with stream-entry) and see what people are doing at the time, and whether it accords with what this monk says.
Metta,
Paul.

Re: Sotapanna is not a fixed state!!
His argument is Sakkaya Dithi will be eliminated only by body contemplation.

Will do. In the meantime, you could email Ven Vijithananda and ask it from himself. His email is available on his website.
I have listened to him in the past and from what I can tell he is not attacking Abhidhamma per say but the notion that "learning" Abhidhamma alone can grant you maggapala/eradicate sakkayaditti.
According to that Sotapanna still have self-view at certain times.

Yes venereble seems to suggest this. I've emailed him asking for better explanation. Will post the reply if I ever get one.
Re: Sotapanna is not a fixed state!!
Thanks.
I also gave the link to this discussion on his website.
In my opinion, there is no reason to reject his views.
Unfortunately, I can't find any Sutta support.
I like to know how he got this knowledge or ideas.
His teaching is very unique and very close to the way I understand Dhamma.
