Post by Maxime »

Why can't i find where I can delete my account ?
Is it legal not to be able to delete our account ?

Please, let me know how I could do it,

thanks

PM one of the mods or admins and ask them to delete it.

Per the terms of service, we don't delete accounts. See paragraph 5:
viewtopic.php?f=47&t=2

And yes, it's legal. You agreed to the terms of service when you joined. However, we can deactivate your account, if you like.

Once a user's account has been deactivated, no one can click on their profile and see any info. The database which admins can see, only contains their email that they registered with and their IP, no personal information, other than those two items (email & IP) which were freely given at the time of registration. We do not ask for real names and most usernames are anonymous usernames anyway.

I noticed Binocular got hers deleted. Was that because she was from an EU state?

No, not deleted, just deactivated (at her request). Once a user's account is deactivated, you can no longer see their profile, unless you're a mod or admin, maybe even just admins.

The EU law does not apply, since we don't have any personal information anyway. We don't know a person's real name, address or anything like that unless they choose to divulge that in their posts or use their real name in their username (very few do that).

What about the posts?
Are they deleted when the account is deactivated?

No, per the terms of service, they are not deleted, it would disrupt the flow of the conversations.

Agree.
Is it possible the Government Agencies demand to release the content of these posts for some reason?

If someone were engaged in criminality and used the social networking capabilities of this forum to plan and execute their crime, such a thing could happen. Also, if there were a criminal investigation over an incident between two forum members, the lawyers might ask for whatever data they could. If it got to a courtroom, there is a chance a judge could demand it. All of these presume wicked behaviour on the part of forum participants.

Any secret terrorists present? (I don't think this is likely).
