BTN Documentary on American Buddhist Practice

Hey folks, long time no talk :hello: Hope everyone is well.

Just watched the second part of a two-part documentary on Buddhist practice in American. Couldn't get the first part to work, but the second is full of insightful interviews with popular American teachers. There's even an appearance by a guy who I believe was being portrayed as the founder of E-Sangha.

If you know how to get the first part to work, I would appreciate it because I would really like to watch it.

Thanks. That was a pretty good documentary. The first part didn't work for me either. I think it is a glitch on their end, not uploading it correctly.

Adam Fischer (in the documentary) is user name genkaku, who posted here up until about a year and a half ago and was a regular at e-sangha.

Sorry to say, I couldn't get it to work either. Perhps I'll give it another try later.

Using a streaming player in linux i got a 404 error on both files.

Hey m0rl0ck, have you tried it in a Windows or Mac OS yet?

There are a few things i wont stoop to. Rebooting to windows to watch a tv documentary is one of them. I have no trouble watching movies and video on the internet, buddhist and otherwise, in linux and if they are running a site that requires internet explorer or windows media player to work, i just wont be visiting them.

It wont work at all on a mac.

Though I wasn't suggesting that you should reboot to Windows; maybe just try watching it on a different computer...

I saw this when it first came out. It's one of those state-run propaganda docs. Don't worry, you missed nothing of importance. Except maybe a laugh at the English narration.

Yeah, it seems that now none of the video links on the site work.

Alan's probably right - there isn't much new in the film beyond seeing genkaku.
