Thanks for sharing, Chris.
Rosa Parks became a Buddhist before she passed away in 2005 aged 92.
Didn't know that! She made a very wise decision.
Moreover, many of these Buddhists are in undeveloped or developing countries where the empowerment of women is crucial for those countries’ economic development and social progress.
Very true.
Therefore, full ordination of women is part of the earliest tradition. It is also the declared wish of the Lord Buddha
This is the crux of their argument that the bhikkuni order should be reinstated and I think it is solid. They provide a sutta reference and there are many more. But the devil is in the details, namely in the patimokkha rules. Those who will fight this change will use that as ammunition.

Sadly, he never actually got to deliver this speech.

I understand that Rosa Parks became associated with Soka Gakkai at the end of her life.

So has she been Shakubuku'd?

I'm not sure he ever even explains WHY - he expounds his reaction to it, but I'm still listening....

He said that a monk came up to him and advised that his paper was banned, but he did not say if he was told the reason. But I think we can make a fair guess.

I did. Still a wise decision, IMO.

Thank you sokehi.

The more I read of this, the more difficult i find it to not have unskilful thoughts about those blocking ordination for women.

The more they protest, the more untenable and baseless their position becomes.

Ridiculous.
