This is worrying. There’s a rumour that he is going to use trade talks to force the NHS has to pay more for life saving drugs. Hope this is fake news.

Trump and the NHS
Re: Trump and the NHS
Where did you hear the rumour about trade and drugs? The BBC article seems to be about no more than his predictable disdain for the NHS, and his possible misunderstanding of the motives behind a protest march.
Re: Trump and the NHS
From an email asking me to sign a petition to make trade deals more transparent. Could be scaremongering , but then again not entirely impossible.
Re: Trump and the NHS
Ah, thanks. I'm sure Trump would have few scruples regarding the NHS if it came to a choice between that and putting "America First" in a trade deal; that's his mandate. One would hope that our negotiators would be putting "Britain First" in response!
I hadn't heard of this one, though, and to me it looks like a peculiarly British strain of TDS.

Re: Trump and the NHS
This issue of drug prices isn't just a Trump thing, or possibly even a US thing. New Zealand (presumably like the UK) negotiates with drug companies about which drugs will be funded. I recall that the US has objected before that the procedure is anti-competitive (which trade negotiations is code for: "my companies can't make as much profit as they would like").

Re: Trump and the NHS
I've heard the US wants a share of private health provision in the UK ( the NHS commissions quite a lot of services from private contractors ).Meezer77 wrote: ↑Mon May 21, 2018 8:28 pm This is worrying.
