Jhana, Buddhadasa, Visuddhimagga, Patisambhidamagga, Anapanasati Commentary

Post by DooDoot »

Dear persons learned in the Visuddhimagga, Patisambhidamaggaforum & Anapanasati Commentary

It seems, in 1959, Thailand's Bhikkhu Buddhadasa delivered a series of lectures which became the 1971 English language book translated by Bhikkhu Nagasena called Anapansati. This English translation appears to contain no footnotes or references

I recently read the material in the book includes excerpts from the Visuddhimagga, Patisambhidamagga and Anapanasati Commentary. For example, I found the explanation of "gladdening the mind" in Bhikkhu Buddhadasa's book comes from the Patisambhidamagga paragraph 420.

Below are some excerpts about jhana.

Can any persons learned in the Visuddhimagga, Patisambhidamaggaforum & Anapanasati Commentary confirm if these excerpts are Bhikkhu Buddhadasa's own utterances (rather than explanations from the aforementioned commentaries).

Thank you :)
There is always an official executioner. If you try to take his place, It is like trying to be a master carpenter and cutting wood. If you try to cut wood like a master carpenter, you will only hurt your hand.
