Pure dhamma discord channel

Post by puredhamma »

Hello,

We have a discord group that focuses on original buddha teachings from the Tipitaka.
With an emphasis on helping people to attain Nibbana.
Currently we have 300+ members.
Many people attained Sotapanna here through the help of members in this discord and the rescources that are shared there.
We have a weekly live desana aswell where you can ask questions.
Currently we have 300+ members.

The main website we use as a reference is: https://puredhamma.net/ and this site is 100% based on the Tipitaka and also on the teachings of Waharaka Thero, he was able to cause the recent spread of original Dhamma.
Waharaka Thero was born as a jati sotapanna and passed away into Parinibbana in 2017.
https://puredhamma.net/new-revised-post ... aka-thero/
He was the first person to extract the true meanings of the critical Pāli words in the Tipitaka in recent times.

The article below explains more about specifics mistranslations and the correct meaning of Anicca Dukkha Anatta:

If you have any questions take a look on the puredhamma website or join the discord channel.

The invite link to the discord is:

May all attain Nibbana.

Thankyou, I joined up and installed Discord. It looks like the website is sufficient, is that the heart of it, on that website? https://puredhamma.net/living-dhamma/

I don't like discord, it's so clunky.

Well, might be worth a read if I run out of other reading. Is it worth pursuing?

They don't really have much discussion and I am loathe to point out that they have a specific section in their discord to solicit donations. Seems more like an attempt to make money, but I would be happy to be proven wrong. There's also people who openly declare to have Sotapanna and Anagami attainment which is also taboo. A lot of the actual philosophy seems to be trying to read something else into the Suttas using Sinhala pronunciation rather than Pāli language.

Yes, the website contains all the information indeed.

It is good to listen to the Dhamma aswell.
Below some sources that align with the puredhamma teachings:

Hi, how do you test for people attainment?

We dont test people.
But in general the person who attains sotapanna will know it himself in most cases after a while.
The way somebody explains dhamma is a good indicator aswell + dropping of hate, lust, delusion.
Only a Buddha himself can know for sure if somebody attained sotapanna.

But in general if one is tihetuka and puts in the work one can attain Nibbana through the teachings in this discord/ and the puredhamma website.

Yes there is a possibility to donate towards dhamma projects/charity, currently it is closed.
Buddha did not forbid speaking about attainments, unless one is false claiming ofcourse.

Watch some of the discourses shared there and read the pinned posts and see if it makes sense.
If it does not make sense to you, or you have further questions we can help you out and assist.

How do you know puredhamma.net is based on actual teachings of buddha? Why should we suddenly disregard the work done by many prominent monks who worked tirelessly all their lives to interpret what the Buddha taught? Are you saying we should listen to a man whose life isn't that properly documented? To only base entire faith on one man's teachings and etc seems rather hasty.

I've been trying to find a good theravada discord too. The popular Buddhism one seems too big and covers all the schools.

Unfortunately this one seems like just a discussion forum for lals site than an early Buddhist forum.
A dying man can only rely upon his wisdom, if he developed it. Wisdom is not dependent upon any phenomenon originated upon six senses. It is developed on the basis of the discernment of the same. That’s why when one’s senses start to wither and die, the knowledge of their nature remains unaffected. When there is no wisdom, there will be despair, in the face of death.

same. The popular buddhism is populated with people not really knowing the core essence of buddhism. I think there's a good reason for lack of discord :)

The puredhamma site is 100% based on the Tipitaka.

You can find more background information on: https://puredhamma.net/historical-background/

Just because somebody has studied suttas and/or meditated for a big portion of his life and has a wikipedia page it does mean this person has any attainments.
Unfortunately real buddhism is almost non existent, but it is starting to rise again because of the efforts of people like Abhaya Thero, Amadassana thero and the Puredhamma site.

It is not a matter of believing or placing faith in the Puredhamma site.
Even Buddha mentioned to not blindly believe his words.

One can only distinguish real from fake when one understands the real thing.
The #discourses in the Discord channel are the most important as its the best way to attain Sotapanna.
