Hi, friends, my name is Arturo, nice to meet you (:
I found this forum while googling some questions about Uposatha, and decided to join. I’d been “into” Buddhism on and off for a few years now, but really committed to and embraced the religion last year.
Where I live, as far as I know, there are no sanghas of Theravada practitioners (or at least not ones that seem serious; I’ve mostly found groups emphasizing “mindfulness” and other New Age-y stuff), so I’m hoping this forum might substitute my sangha to some extent.
I am, so far, in love with the teachings of the Buddha, and I hope I can learn a lot more from you.
Lots of goodwill,
–A.
Hello, everyone! Nice to meet you (:

Welcome!

This is our foundation: to have sati, recollection, and sampajañña, self-awareness, whether standing, walking, sitting, or reclining. Whatever arises, just leave it be, don’t cling to it. Whether it’s like or dislike, happiness or suffering, doubt or certainty... Don’t try to label everything, just know it. See that all the things that arise in the mind are simply sensations. They are transient. They arise, exist and cease. That’s all there is to them, they have no self or being, they are neither ‘us’ nor ‘them’. None of them are worthy of clinging to.
