In reading the scriptures, there are two kinds of mistakes:
One mistake is to cling to the literal text and miss the inner principles.
The second mistake is to recognize the principles but not apply them to your own mind, so that you waste time and just make them into causes of entanglement.

To be honest, it looked like a forgotten discussion group when I became one of the moderators about two days ago.
Since I put all of the work I mentioned into the group the number of subscribers when from 213 subscribers to 296 subscribers.

I was a member of the BSWA forum for a few years, but see that is has all but died.

They had a very strict 'real names' only policy.

It was a good idea and I'm sure it cut down on the number of trolls and spammers, big time. But apparently, many people still like to have some anonymity, to speak more freely. This is why I don't see discussion forums going away anytime soon (in real name format, zoom, etc there is no anonymity).Dhammaloka is a public platform; you are not anonymous.
As Buddhists we are advocates of honesty and openness.

Good Brahman David: It's actually a very proper place and shows just that those desire to listen have less respect if pulling his into a feed on "rat-it".DNS wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 5:05 pm I was a member of the BSWA forum for a few years, but see that is has all but died.

Sure, more proper would be when a "monastery" isn't under google-contract... but no match in regard of the "free-places"...
(and, of course, improper for a Monk to approach here as well...)
