Associate with people of integrity.
Hear the true Dhamma.
Have conviction.
Attend to truth.
Be mindful and alert.

Restrain the senses.
Perform wholesome actions of mind speech and body.
Let go of sensory desire, ill-will, sloth/torpor, restlessness/worry and doubt.

Abandon the underlying tendency of ignorance in relation to neither pleasant nor unpleasant feelings.

When associating with good people and hearing the true Dhamma conviction to train as instructed arises.
When training correctly mindfulness and alertness arises.

Appropriate attention is attention to the truth as it is on the present moment, moment to moment.

It's seldom that people associate with people of integrity, since their interests nevertheless lie within the world, good householder. It's importand to focus always on the root cause if one gets aware that there is a lack.

And what is the cause, what's the reason, to get into association with Sublime people? What leads one to search for such? What causes to leave common ways?

What's the cause of changing attention?

Maybe the cause of Saddha, or Sila, in the chain, helps to find the answer in a releasing way.

Appropriate attention is to the 4 Satipaṭṭhāna.
“Knowing that this body is just like foam,
understanding it has the nature of a mirage,
cutting off Māra’s flower-tipped arrows,
one should go beyond the King of Death’s sight.”

Find the answer in The Buddha’s last words ‘ all composed things decompose ‘ ‘ decay is inherent in all things ‘ anicca is the fundamental truth.

The path is as you find it and it is good then, good in the middle and good at the end.

That too

In the dhammapada there are these:

Hasten to do wholesome deeds, ward off the mind from wickedness‘

‘The non-doing of anything wicked,
undertaking of what is good,

the purification of one’s mind - this is the teaching of the Buddhas.’

This is sila, samadhi and panna.

Undertaking what is the highest good above all other goods is the training in appropriate attention (which is awareness of anicca) The underpinning is the practice of the moral codes.

The underpinning is the practice of the moral codes.
It is a non-doing.
