Did the Buddha know that Dhamma will be written down?
Did the Buddha know that Dhamma will be written down?
To be put in writing? Will be compiled, edited and comment upon?
Re: Did the Buddha know that Dhamma will be written down?
I do not think Buddha will know that the world will discover the printing press and computer technology.
However, they had the writing letters in Buddha's time but were limited only to perhaps the elite.
Memorising was the main method of passing knowledge.
Perhaps Buddha even knows that you can pass information from one to another by just mind contact.
If that is the ultimate method to pass information anything in between is possible and Buddha knew about it.
By the way, why do you ask this question?

I agree with your view. I believe the editors have added in extra stuff from the very beginning.SarathW wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 10:55 am I do not think Buddha will know that the world will discover the printing press and computer technology.
