A Brief History of Orthodox Theravada

Just sharing this book 'Bahira Nidana' section from Samantapasadika (Translation from Pali to English) that I found on Internet. It's free for download.

Whoever interested in the historical development of Orthodox Theravada Buddhism and ancient Mahavihara should read this book.

Actually it was a good reading although I had read it in another language.

Another important one is the "Beginning part of the Khuddaka-nikaya Atthakata", since it describes "going forth" and "Tisarana".

Even though it is very important for a Buddhist, I don't know whether it has translated to English or not.

Yes, it has. Under the title The Minor Readings and The Illustrator of Ultimate Meaning,

It's quite good. If one was going to buy an expensive commentary translation, this would be a good one.

Yep, they redid their website so now all links to them are broken. Just search on their site.

Using general logics:

If there is a true religion, then it's fundamentals are not changable.
If the fundamentals are not changeable, then it is orthodox.
Therefore:
If there is a true religion, then it is orthodox.
vocabulary.com/dictionary/orthodox
Orthodox practices or beliefs are generally accepted as true or correct. If you are an orthodox vegetarian, you never, ever eat meat — not like those people who have fish once in a while.
Encyclopedia Britannica
What is the true meaning of orthodox?
Orthodox, (from Greek orthodoxos, “of the right opinion”), true doctrine and its adherents as opposed to heterodox or heretical doctrines and their adherents. The word was first used in early 4th-century Christianity by the Greek Fathers.
