We have cravings, this is the norm. And the normal solution to that is to have a partner and help each other satisfy them.

In addition to this, if you practice the Dhamma and grow in wholesome qualities, mindfulness, self-control and insight, cravings will decrease until one is ready to abandon them altogether.

Here it seems people sometimes going about this backwards. They are full of cravings and low on wholesome qualities, mindfulness and insight. Instead of taking the sensible path, they choose the ego-driven pursuit of trying to squash their cravings and run around in circles.
