I updated my venn diagram on Dharmic religions to include buddhist traditions and where I think they fall on the diagram. I posted this over at Dharma Paths, but believe this has a connection to Theravada as well since I mention some specific traditions on the diagram.

EBT = Early Buddhist Texts / Modern Theravada / Suttanta
TFT = Thai Forest Tradition

Vajrayana overlaps with Hinduism the most of any buddhist tradition.
Classical Theravada and Vajrayana overlap with Jainism a little due to some similar ascetic practices.
EBT and TFT overlap mostly with Jainism.
Zen and especially Chan overlap mostly with Taoism.

Would be cool if Vajrayana over-lapped Jainism some, but I can see it is on the outer planetary system of it...

The way I see it in the diagram Hinduism inspired Buddhism and Buddhism inspired the other religions.
Perhaps you can show us different layouts.
- Buddhism only with its different sects.
- Allow other religions to overlap Buddhism.
