"He, the Blessed One, is indeed the Noble Lord, the Perfectly Enlightened One;
He is impeccable in conduct and understanding, the Serene One, the Knower of the Worlds;
He trains perfectly those who wish to be trained; he is Teacher of gods and men; he is Awake and Holy. "

Leading to liberation, to be experienced individually by the wise. "

It seems to be quite popular with celebs. Boy George is one now.

Mind, let me leap into the victor’s teaching,
carry me over the great flood, so hard to pass.”

It depends how you define "rock star", but Adam Yauch, Boy George, k.d. lang, Courtney Love, Leonard Cohen, and the arena-filling mega-star called Anthony Best.

Not really Buddhism. She was part of SGI, the Japanese religion started by Nichiren Daishonen. Sort of like Mormonism is to Christianity.

But she was an awesome singer, and will be missed :candle:

I was going to say Sting is another one, but it appears that's no longer the case.

In a 2011 interview in Time, Sting said that he was agnostic and that the certainties of religious faith were dangerous.[24]

Wasn’t Kurt Cobain one too?

Correct, one of the reasons he named the band Nirvana.
Religion appeared to remain a significant muse to Cobain during this time as he often used Christian imagery in his work and developed an interest in Jainism and Buddhist philosophy. The band name "Nirvana" was taken from the Buddhist concept, which Cobain described as "freedom from pain, suffering and the external world", a concept that he aligned with the punk rock ethos and ideology.
And a Buddhist monk chanted at his funeral.

Also Belinda Carlisle, who is SGI like Tina Turner.

Everyone likes to claim celebrities. Here, the Swiss are claiming her as their own, because she lived and died in her home in Küssnacht (near Zürich) for many years. It was the birthplace of Carl Jung, incidentally. Image

Tina was amazing. Radio and TV shows have been playing plenty of her hits, but Yesterday evening I dug out my Gimme Shelter DVD, where Ike and Tina Turner appear briefly as one of the support acts for the Rolling Stones in Madison Square Garden (1969). The outtakes have Mick Jagger chatting with them backstage, and singing a few songs, including an early version of Brown Sugar.

I'm also quite fond of the work she and her backup singers (the Ikettes) did in 1973 on Frank Zappas albums Over-Nite Sensation and Apostrophe (recorded at Ike's studio). Apparently it took them several days to learn the tricky vocal part in the middle of "Montana", though Ike apparently didn't think much of it...

This chorus from "I am the Slime" is pretty catchy...
That's right, folks
Don't touch that dial
Tina and the Ikettes:
Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livin' room floor
I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, lookit me go
...

No, that's much more recent, and it's Lisa Fisher singing, I believe.
The movie Gimme Shelter is about the Rolling Stones 1969 tour:
Here's Tina in that movie:
