Hello, I'm a Theravada lay practitioner from Italy. My spiritual journey has been quite long and convoluted, I was raised in a culturally catholic environment and took my first communion as a child, but I can't say any of my relatives ever had a strong faith in the roman church or in any religious belief. I broke out of my agnosticism when I began to show a deep interest in the reconstruction and practice of ancient european paganism, then I was introduced to Nichiren buddhism by an online acquaintance and began attending services at my local temple from a mainline traditionalist lineage. Over a period of 6 months, I grew dissatisfied with Nichiren budddhism due to the not-so-honest behavior of its followers and the persistent sectarianism of the abbot and I decided to join my local Sri Lankan Theravada temple. I attend services at the temple nearly every week and I've been learning about buddhism long before joining. I'm also considering leaving lay life and going forth in my 30s, but until then I've got a full 5 years ahead of me. Nice to meet you all.

Keep your ideal as Budhha and Ariya Savaka's.
Otherwise, you will be quickly disappointed with the behavior of individual monks.
Many people become monks for the wrong reasons.
So concerned about your path, not the path of others.
