Where to learn Kasina meditation?

Post by devaloka »

There is a wider variety of establishments involved in teaching Vipassana meditation than Kasina meditation ; atleast where I live in the Netherlands - Amsterdam.

Where to find a good place and a good teacher for Kasina meditation?

Thanks in advance,
devaloka

Pick a kasina. You can choose one based on your temperament as described in the Visuddhimagga. Make your kasina. Look at it until you can memorize it well enough to see it in detail in your imagination. Now you have your learning sign and that is what you put in time practicing with. If you lose your learning sign you have to go back to the physical kasina.

Not that you shouldn't find a place and find a teacher. Just don't wait.

I'm sure there are others but this is the only place i know of in Netherlands that does a Kasina meditation, one of the monks there used to be on DW too a while back. Although im not sure how close it is to Amsterdam.

They do Dhammakaya meditation, which I have tried and can attest is a kasina meditation. I may not have looked at the website thouroughly but i dont think the place Pilgrim plugged in Estonia specifies they do kasina meditation either (even tho im guessing they do).

Not sure why you'd say that when the website specifically says they have Kasina meditation retreats planned for July and Sept 2022.

I was just skimming the site and didnt look too carefully. didnt think to look at the courses, just the meditation section. Although after further inspection this does look quite neat. I think i might look for a branch of them in the US

True. Many of them like using Buddhism as a tool to gain followers. Then they might starting to write books for sales.
