Abhidhamma

Post by dharmalotus48 »

Abhi , towards, onto

Dhamma, phenomena, the cosmic law, the ultimate truth

Abhidhamma , towards the ultimate truth

I guess that’s the reason they only teach abhidhamma to monks.

That is my definition anyways :anjali:

I have never heard that Abhidhamm is only for monks.
Abhidhamma means perhaps that we can experience in ultimate sense which according to Abhidhamma are Rupa, Citta, Cetasika and Nibbana.

"Abhi" is defined as "Special" or "Extra" in the commentary.

I think specially the forest monks were advised to learn the Abhidhamma by venerable sariputta.

The truth is only Abhidhammo teachers can
be called true preacher of Dhammo
. Some
Paṇḍitas also mastered the Abhidhammo.
Abhidhammo should be taught (starting)
IN PRIMARY SCHOOL so that they don't
follow the detractors of Abhidhammo
.
Puggalapaññatti is the easiest to understand;
Hopefully one day I can memorize it.
