Thupa n Buddha
Re: Thupa n Buddha
Thūpo is the main object (worship) in Buddhism.
The contents are relics (usually put in a jar then in
the Thūpo). There are 2 types of Thūpo: (1) permanent
and (2) nonpermanent. The permanent form is filled with
relics. The nonpermanent form (usually a bell shape) has
no contents.
Thūpo is built for four people: (1) Sammāsambuddho,
(2) Paccekasambuddho, (3) Tathāgatassa Sāvako, and
(4) rājācakkavattī. [DN 16].
