sense bases disappear ?

Post by asahi »

In the dependent arising , the cessation of namarupa comes to cessation of sense bases . How do you understand this , the sense bases disappear right there ? Or it means something else . Following that , cessation of contact .

Cessation of perception and feelings is experienced only by Anagamis and Arahants.

Cessation of FP is not the same of Cessation of SB .

Nirodha Samapathhi is the closest to Nibbana you can experience in this life.

Cessation in contrast with annihilationism is to be understood as "not bound by". The way i understand it is that the cessation of sense bases does not mean that the sense bases disappear, but that Dhamma knowledge is not bound by them or does not depend on them. As such, a knowledge that is dependent on the six senses has namarupa as its underlying condition.
And the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus, saying: "Behold now, bhikkhus, I exhort you: All compounded things are subject to vanish. Strive with earnestness!"

This was the last word of the Tathagata.

Contact that is dependent on the six senses is bound by the six senses. It has the six senses as it reference/base. Nibbana, or the third noble truth is often referred to as unbounded. It is not dependent or bound by namarupa.

Sense bases dependent on namarupa ? If we were to follow the texts , sense bases dependent on (Feeling, perception, intention, contact, & attention)&(form) ? This is weird , how does sense bases dependent on (form) & (Feeling, perception, intention, contact, & attention) ? 🤔

Knowledge dependent on the six senses cannot be registered after death. This is how the six sense media is dependent on namarupa.

That would still be dependent on contact, as per DN1

If you stop posting then that can be called "the cessation of asahi" even though you do not disappear.

"Therein, bhikkhus, when those recluses who are eternalists proclaim on four grounds the self and the world to be eternal — that is conditioned by contact. That they can experience that feeling without contact — such a case is impossible
