Re: Ven. Gampaha Pemasiri Loku Hamuduruwo
Thank you for the post.
I listened to this monk a few years back and always wanted to see him.
Now I found the details of his monastery.
It is well worth listening to him even though he does not speak English.
It appears he had big Western followers.
The interesting thing about him is he is coming from the Mahasi Sayadaw lineage. (his teacher is a direct disciple of MS)
Ven Pemasiri now challenges the teaching of his teacher and MS.

btw If some one teach things other than buddha said , doesn't matter who said it should clearly say this is this persons way or interpretation and not not what buddha said.
Some a monk(theravada lankan) speak things from even different other sects of buddhism, and personal comments from writers(doesn't matter writings are 2000 years old if it a writing or saying by a some person or monk it should mention) and their personal opinions. it is not a problem saying those things but should clearly say this is from this and not what buddha taught according to theravada pali canon. cuz else people think things hat monk say from pali canon. some monks even mix poems, artistic history books, artistic story books, sayings by famous people and listners some time think these are what buddha said or from canon.
Ven.Pemasiri is clearly explain things. without misleading people .

Re: Ven. Gampaha Pemasiri Loku Hamuduruwo
This video appeared to be a great Dhamma sermon even though I could not understand it fully considering I can understand Sinhalese and English both.
However, he mentioned something I always thought about the self at just the last minute.
It is worth listening to the whole video

Re: Ven. Gampaha Pemasiri Loku Hamuduruwo
Here you can find several books about Ven. Pemasiri and his teachings on Dhamma, written by his disciplines, and even one written by himself - Meditation Defilements (UPAKKILESA DHARMA), a very interesting and some kind of unique book on the topic of meditative defilements, mostly aimed at meditation instructors. For some reasons there is one book missing by David Young - "Affectionate Splendour. Taking refuge with Pemasiri Thera." Unlike other, it's copyrighted by the publisher, so that could be the issue here.
I read them all and was so impressed by the directness and openness of the Ven. Pemasiri, that I even translated some of them into my first language. In my opinion, the order in which the books are listed on the website would also be good for the reading order. Although it may be personal preference, I would recommend starting with "Comprehension of the Buddhist Path" by Evgeniya Evmenenko, and then picking up David Young's books.

Re: Ven. Gampaha Pemasiri Loku Hamuduruwo
In the following video, Ven Pemasiri clearly mentioned that Vipassana practice (insight meditation) does not develop the 37 factors of enlightenment.
Satipathana (four frames of reference or mindfulness meditation) is the only practice to develop 37 factors of enlightenment.
This is a very interesting comment as many mixes the two and understands that the Vipassana and the four Satipathana are the same.
This is the only complete Dhamma talk I found in 37 factors of enlightement.
37 factors of enlightenment
Please note Noble Eightfold Path should be the last. (incorrectly listed on this website)
Also note this video does not cover the Noble Eightfold Path bit.
Because it is the practice at all levels of attainments.

This video is about Kaya Raga, Kama Raga, Rupa Raga and Aruparaga.
The most interesting aspect for me is he is explaining his experience in material Jhana and Immaterial Jhana.

Do you remember the time you don't have to worry about the computer or the mobile phone?
That is Nibbana or Nirodha!
Don't take my word. You listen and understand it yourself.
This teaching I never heard of.

Kusala, Akusala vs Punna, Apunna?
For the first time, I got a clear answer for the above terms.
Kusala Akusala is the action and the Punna, Apunna is the result of the action.
Also a clear explanation of Kamma and Sankhara.
What is Avijja and Sankahara in the statement "Avijjaya paccaya Sankhara"?
Wholesome action helps you to move up the ladder in 31 planes of existence.

Re: Ven. Gampaha Pemasiri Loku Hamuduruwo
Ven Pemasiri explained how he practice the stopping of the heart while practicing Anapana and how he got into trouble.
I have no reason to not to believe him as I have the ability to lower my blood pressure while the doctor is checking me.
Counter 31.15 there is another interesting story about the dangers of clinging to tranquility. I can relate to this as once I thought that I am an Arahant.
Count 39.00 there is an interesting discussion about the rebirth process.
I suggest you listen to the whole video. It is well worth your time.
