Modern trends & movements within Buddhism

After this discussion about Jack Kornfield at Sutta Central D&D, I made a page at DhammaWiki on the modern trends & movements within Buddhism. I made it a list, of course.

If secular Buddhism is “Buddhist philosophy but without any of the superstitious and supernatural beliefs that can't be observed/tested through empirical research” then it can be seen as sufficient as an introduction to Buddhas teachings because it is not necessary to believe in things superstitious or supernatural in order to practice virtue and meditation. Rather, there are many rituals and beliefs based on superstition that are delusions to be let go of and a sceptical mind may benefit from being sceptical. Rather be wary of those who have a blanket rejection of secularism. Also recognise that secularism is transitionally beneficial for some while not a permanent condition. True knowledge comes at the end of the path.

Interesting.
Buddhism is a path.
People have the choice to stop at any point they like or all the way to Nibbana.
“As the lamp consumes oil, the path realises Nibbana”
