The teaching of venerable Jinalnkara - New Zeland

I found the teaching of the venerable Jinalankara very interesting. He teaches Dhamma in a very down-to-earth fashion.
He also has a deep knowledge of Abhidhamma.
Instead of creating a new post all the time I like to share his interesting points in this thread.
If you are interested any of these points please create a new thread for further discussion.

In this video, he discusses what Dhamma or Dhamma Arammana is.
The question asked while the eye takes color (same for ear, nose, tongue, etc.) as Arammana is why it is called Dhamma Arammana for the objects of mind.
The answer is that Dhamma means everything else takes place in the mind. It is a blanket description of millions of different ideas and thought taking place in the mind. (such as 52 kinds of mental objects and other objects considered as past, present, future, far, near, subtle, gross, etc) This includes five hindrances, the Noble Eightfold Path, Jhana, 37 factors of enlightenment, and whatnot.

In this video venerable Jinalankara is discussing the Sila in detail.
He asked the question whether buffaloes observe the Sila
Then he asked whether a person who takes five precepts before he goes to bed observes the Sila
He says that Sila should accompany some effort to be called Sila.
Hence if you are thinking of stealing or breaking the precepts at that moment you should not have Sila.
Hence just mere behavior alone does not qualify for Sila.
Perhaps this video discussion is some help for venerable Kumara's post which is now locked.
I thank again venarable Kumara for his question as it helped me to deeply investigate this important topic.

Just as a dog, tied by a leash to a post or stake
It appears they kept dogs as pets even in Buddha's time (There are evidence that human kept dogs as pets for 30000 years ago)

By the way, what is interesting is Buddha's knowledge of the end of the world. Perhaps people knew what the present-day scientist know about even 2500 years ago.
"There comes a time when the great ocean evaporates, dries up, & does not exist. But for beings — as long as they are hindered by ignorance, fettered by craving, transmigrating & wandering on — I don't say that there is an end of suffering & stress.

"There comes a time when Sineru, king of mountains, is consumed with flame, is destroyed, & does not exist. But for beings — as long as they are hindered by ignorance, fettered by craving, transmigrating & wandering on — I don't say that there is an end of suffering & stress.

"There comes a time when the great earth is consumed with flame, is destroyed, & does not exist. But for beings — as long as they are hindered by ignorance, fettered by craving, transmigrating & wandering on — I don't say that there is an end of suffering & stress.

According to the venerable Jinalankara, up to the Upacharasamdhi is considered Kamavacara Citta.
When you move from Upacara Samadhi to Arpana Samadhi it is called Jhana.
Then only it is termed Rupavacara Samadhi.
The way I see it now, it is not possible to hear sound in Jhana.
Perhaps if you hear a sound it is possible you will come out of Jhana again back to the Upacara level.
