The teaching of venerable Jinalnkara - New Zeland
I found the teaching of the venerable Jinalankara very interesting. He teaches Dhamma in a very down-to-earth fashion.
He also has a deep knowledge of Abhidhamma.
Instead of creating a new post all the time I like to share his interesting points in this thread.
If you are interested any of these points please create a new thread for further discussion.
In this video, he discusses what Dhamma or Dhamma Arammana is.
The question asked while the eye takes color (same for ear, nose, tongue, etc.) as Arammana is why it is called Dhamma Arammana for the objects of mind.
The answer is that Dhamma means everything else takes place in the mind. It is a blanket description of millions of different ideas and thought taking place in the mind. (such as 52 kinds of mental objects and other objects considered as past, present, future, far, near, subtle, gross, etc) This includes five hindrances, the Noble Eightfold Path, Jhana, 37 factors of enlightenment, and whatnot.
This video is in Sinhalese language and re-produced only for the source reference.
