Help me understand the idea of Nirvana/ or the ultimate goal of the path

Well in that case just enjoy your life, just make sure you don't fall into hell. Theravada is only a handful of leaves after all. The Buddha was at one point reluctant to teach the dhamma because it was too advanced. I think this doesn't belong here since you're not a complete beginner. Please don't be too humble. We are all learning after all.
